This October saw several Foxlowe gardeners, most of whom are also MCA members, progress a small bulb planting project on behalf of St Edward’s Church in Leek.

The idea was proposed by Philip Allcock, one of their churchwardens, who thought a selection of bulbs in the Garden of Remembrance, alongside a well-used path behind the church, would be a cheerful harbinger of spring for passers-by.

MCA provided a small budget for a range of bulb species - winter aconites, wild daffodils, wood anemones and a crocus variety called Remembrance - 140 bulbs in total.

Their final task after planting was securing chicken wire over the top to try to protect them from marauding squirrels. Fingers crossed for next spring!
